Music, sports and social spirit in the Engadin

If St. Moritz turns white in winter, its green valleys make the city shine in summer, thanks to milder temperatures compared to urban centres. From spring to autumn, St. Moritz continues to offer unique experiences: from cultural events that bring the Engadin to life, to countless outdoor activities.

Hiking and walks

St. Moritz is located in a region crisscrossed by nature trails and scenic routes, covering a total of 580 kilometres. One of the most spectacular is the path leading to Piz Nair, a peak from which you can admire the timeless elegance of the city. In summer, you can also enjoy a leisurely walk along the shores of Lake St. Moritz, just a few steps from the famous Rhaetian Railway and the longest escalator in Europe, which connects the lake to the city centre.

Located at around 1,800 metres above sea level, St. Moritz offers numerous well-equipped golf courses, including the historic Samedan, with its 18 holes and expansive, flat terrain. But the Engadin is not only about golf: it also offers adrenaline-filled experiences such as paragliding and mountain biking, two thrilling activities for the boldest adventurers, ideal for taking in the breathtaking natural beauty of the Alps.

Festival da Jazz and SMAFF

In the summer months, art and culture bring the city centre to life thanks to the St. Moritz Art Film Festival and the Festival da Jazz, featuring an outstanding line-up and concerts held across various locations: Lej da Staz, Bergell, Pontresina, and Celerina. At the heart of the event is the popular Dracula Club, home to an intimate main stage with around 150 seats, offering an exclusive and immersive listening experience. SMAFF, founded in 2020, was created to showcase and promote cantonal, national, and international cinema through screenings, panels, talks, and debates, all set against the evocative backdrop of the Swiss Alps.

On August 1st, Switzerland celebrates its National Day, and the Upper Engadin is no exception. In St. Moritz, the day comes alive with markets, concerts, talks, fireworks, and shared festivities for the entire community. Engadin Tourismus organizes a rich annual programme of events, including farmhouse brunches, alpine pasture concerts, celebrations in mountain lodges, and open-air pop music performances. Traditionally, the celebrations conclude with the singing of the national anthem and the official speech of the President of the Swiss Confederation.
